Deep in Paint

So, yes, I’ve been absent from the blog for a while. I have been deep in painting and have a whole new painting life.

A couple months ago, I took a 12-week on-line painting class. It concentrated mostly on abstract painting principles and I thought I would apply what I learned to realistic painting. However, I was surprised that as I learned concepts of abstract painting, I began loving it. It’s much more complicated than I realized, but I found it fascinating.

Here are a couple of my latest pieces…

They are 12 x 12 inches and are acrylic and mixed media on cradled board.

  1. oh my!! These are simply incredible!! I love that they are abstract but…I also see realism in there too which makes them even more interesting. I am sure that the blog reproduction of them isn’t doing them justice, but you can still see that they are wonderful. Love that you are actively working on your passion!

I really like these! When my human was a kid she used to do art, and was told how talented she was. Recently, she was cleaning out some unused rooms and found a bunch of her childhood paintings and drawings… and she actually WASN’T very good! MOL! She now has an even deeper admiration for people who do have talent.
