Easter by ourselves… fun with food, paintings for sale, and writing all the time.

It seems to me….

I hope everyone had a great Easter last weekend.  I did, or at least I thought I did until I was told that I didn’t.  So, here’s what I mean…  The boys and I didn’t have any plans for Easter.  That was fine with us and we stayed home and did our own thing… that means the big EASY to the boys. Well, the following day, I ran into a friend, asked how Easter was and she said, “What’d you do?  Just stay home by yourself, doing nothing?” It was the tone you needed to hear as if there could be nothing worse than my own company.

Living alone is a challenge at times, but the up side is that you can do what you want, when you want.  I don’t sit around feeling sorry for myself. Instead, I usually try to make the most of every day.  It seems to me that people should not pre-judge someone else’s life.  There, I feel better. Thanks for listening.

Writing

So, another fun week on the new blog.  I’m writing, writing, writing all the time. Here’s a picture of the food stylings you are missing if you haven’t dropped by.  If you did drop by this week,  thanks so much.

This past week on The Helpful Blogger I talked about The Four Faces of Eating, I Eat Plants – What do you eat?, and on the Oh Yum page I posted Oh Yum: Wheatberry and Sauerkraut Salad.  You’ll find all of them at The Helpful Blogger.

Art

I’m downsizing… HA!!!…  aren’t I always?  Gonna post one painting per week for a special sale price…  This one is 6″ x 6″ and is acrylic on gessobord.  It is ready to frame.  The price is $36 with free shipping and handling in the continental US.  If interested… leave a comment or email me at lou at lou belcher dot com.  It’d make a nice Mother’s Day gift.

The Boys

The boys are participating in the Sunday Selfie Blog Hop put on by The Cat on my Head blog.  Instead of a regular Selfie… we’re posting this cartoon from years ago.  We are cool cats, right? Well, we’re posting this in honor of Caren Gittleman and Cody. They blogged about children’s books and ours was one of them.  Thanks Caren and Cody. Take a look…  at Cat Chat with Caren and Cody

Have a great day everybuddy.

hugs, Bugsy, Knuckles and Lou

My human enjoys and treasures her alone time! She is lucky that she is in a relationship with someone who has to go out of town at least a couple of times a month, and she gets to spend time alone with me and Binga and Boodie! She actually spent Easter day with him because he was celebrating 20 years of sobriety (so it wasn’t even an Easter thing), but she would have been just as happy to just be with us, if it had been on any other day.

Well said Lou! I thoroughly enjoy my own company. I am an only child so I learned to entertain myself very early. all my years of working I rarely had lunch w coworkers unless there was an occasion being celebrated. During nice weather I’d find a shady spot outside to eat and read.
We have neighbor’s who have to ALWAYS. Have company over on the weekend, I cannot imagine having to entertain others all the time. I enjoy an ocassional gathering but not every waking hour

PS bent alone doesn’t = being lonely.
I see the above comment posted under a WordPress account I mistakenly set up years ago,,

I agree with you. Sometimes you just like doing your own thing on a Holiday. There is no pre-requirement for what you can do.

    Good For You!

Hope you are doing well. The veggie dish looks good!

Ouch! What’s with these extroverts that we introverts are so disturbing to them? I love my alone time and my solitary pursuits!!

  7. Now that is a lovely sketch selfie of the boys, sort of reminded me of the Blues Brothers… cool cats! And that food looks delightful too, good enough to eat the page MOL

I don’t understand why it is acceptable for people to force “THEIR” perceptions onto someone else. That was terribly thoughtless and really inappropriate. Since it’s now just me and the kitties I am frequently “alone”. But that’s not a bad thing, nor should anyone try to alone-shame. Being alone does not equal loneliness. Besides all that sounds like you’ve been as busy as you want to be very happily!

    Great Blog Lou!!!

  10. My mum gets this all the time. Some people will never understand the beauty of spending time in one’s own company. Besides, you can never be alone if you have an animal family by your side. Keep doing what makes you happy and ignore those idiotic people.

Love the boys’ selfie! And I know what you mean. I’m married…and we still stayed home and did nothing on Easter. I made a nice dinner. That’s about it. Nothing wrong with that. And nothing wrong with you staying home and doing nothing either. Some people are just so quick to judge. ~Island Cat Mom

  12. I work from home mostly so enjoy my own company. Why anyone wouldn’t appreciate how much fun you can have on your own is beyond me!

PS the Boys look so cool!

Tulip is beautiful and your food photo is also a work of art. So often photos of food or food on TV looks awful. I would definitely eat what you prepared…it looks totally delicious. We have really missed the boys’ cartoons. Thanks for sharing one on the hop.
