Day 27 – 30 in 30 – Sweet Orange

140927SweetOrangeSMMy first cat. When I got out of college, my first job was at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Virginia. I moved to Virginia and it was my first move away from home.

Homesick, I drove to New Jersey that first weekend to see my brother and his wife.  When I left there to return to Virginia and my new life… Linus, a little orange kitten, was in the back seat. They had decided I needed a roommate.  And they were right.  Linus helped me through that year and seventeen more.

I painted this portrait of Linus without looking at one of the old photos I have of her.  The markings aren’t quite right, but it captures, I think, her sweetness…

Have a great weekend…

hugs, HH
