Wow…. this has been a month. I can’t believe that it’s the last day of the 30 Day challenge…. It has been an adventure.
First of all… I counted wrong. So today we have 2 cats. So, technically, it’s 31 Paintings in 30 Days..
The first cat is Snowflake… It’s actually a kitten picture of Snowflake. It was sent in by a friend and there is no blog to direct you to. It’s a cute little cat though and was fun to paint.
Here’s Snowflake…

The second cat today is, of course, Knuckles… Last but not least. His whiskers were a little out of joint because he thought I forgot him. I could never forget Knuckles…. He and Bugsy and Max have helped me through this whole challenge. Here’s Knuckles photo….

Knuckles – his serious side…. Ha! |
One of the reasons I wanted to blog today is that I wanted to thank all of you for all your support. The comments and the tweets and the blog posts about my paintings really kept me going.
Tomorrow we resume regular blogging, but I am not going to stop painting… I’ll continue painting cats on a commission basis….. But I’ll explain all that later. For now, I just want to thank you all for all you did for me this month…..
Whew….. I made it!!!!
Ah! Knuckles looks much like my Bumper, the Kitty! Bumper lived to be 22 years old, quite a miracle for the condition he was in when we met…. A sick and dying alley cat who LOVED all things chicken. When I served fellow artists who had helped me move furniture (including a piano) up 22 stairs, a dinner of Kentucky Fried Chicken, Bumper showed up and demanded in every way possible, some of the goodies. He got his name because instead of rubbing against ones legs he would give a healthy BUMP with his head. Then for days after the KFC dinner, he returned to see if i still had some chicken. I would tell him I could not have a cat, but he would just purr and bump. Then I would cry….When my landlord put a dish of cat food in front of my door, I decided we both thought I should adopt the poor starving, horrible looking thing. What a great decision! He was a superb Studio cat. He taught me to play cat-soccer, He actually looked at my paintings! He taught me to always look up. When I moved back to Burley to care for my aging parents, it took him about 4 hours to decide this was home, my parents were his, and he spent hours each day on my father’s lap as my father read and read, purrng the whole time.
Please pardon my going on so about my precious companion of 21 years. I will always miss him. He was special, as I am sure Knuckles is…
Congratulations on finishing with 31 paintings!
I hope we will can stay in contact!
Marilyn… Thank you for your wonderful comment and for telling me all about Bumper. You were so lucky to have him for so long. I love the name and why you called him that. Thanks for your encouragement of the 31 paintngs project.
Keep in touch.. Lou
Congratulations, Lou! It has been fun watching your cat (and kitten) collection grow every day this month. You’re an inspiration! Thanks for painting, Snowflake. You really captured this kitten’s personality. Best wishes for the rest of 2013. I look forward to your paintings, writings, and whatever comes next. Cheers ~ Eve
Eve… thanks so much for your comment and for sending in Snowflake’s picture. Stay in touch…. Lou
